Professor Lazar Pejović received the UCG annual award

Professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts Lazar Pejović he received recognition from the University of Montenegro (UCG) for his special contribution to the development of artistic and research work and the international positioning of the University of Montenegro.

The recognition refers to the activities and artistic references realized during the year 2022. At the suggestion of the Faculty Council, professor Pejović was presented with the award by the rector of UCG, prof. Dr. Vladimir Božović, at the solemn session of the UCG Senate.

The council of that faculty especially emphasizes the contribution of Professor Pejović in the realization of the monographic publication "History of the Art of Montenegro" in three volumes, published by the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. In that project, Pejović performed the duties of art editor, author and photo editor and producer. The editor-in-chief is academician prof. Dr. Aleksandar Čilikov.

Work on that project, as announced by UCG, began in 2018. The first two volumes, published in 2022, cover the period from prehistory to the end of the Middle Ages and the modern century. The texts were written by Saša Brajović, Ph.D., Aleksandar Čilikov, Ph.D., Dragana Kujović, Ph.D., Tatjana Koprivica, Ph.D., Čedo Marković, Ph.D., and Slobodan Raičević, Ph.D. Completion of the third volume, which covers the period from the second half of the XNUMXth century to the beginning of the XNUMXst century, is expected during this year.

"The editorial concept of the book 'History of the Art of Montenegro' is based on the idea of unifying the most significant artistic heritage created on the soil of the present-day state of Montenegro into a unique publication which, in addition to scientific synthesis, would enable the reader to form a mental map of our cultural heritage, to see and understand it as a whole through an adequate visual representation. That is why field research was organized for more than 100 days, during which valuable visual material was collected, with the great help of all cultural institutions and religious communities in Montenegro. Special attention was paid to the visual editing and graphic design of the publication: the selection of photographs and illustrative contributions, their organization into hierarchically clear relationships and coherent content units, as well as a series of formative design interventions. To achieve the set goal, a significant contribution was made by the design team consisting of Adela Zejnilović, MA, Sandra Đurović, MA, Ivana Vujošević — all members of the FLU collective — which was managed by the art editor during almost two years of work on structuring and shaping the publication," the announcement states.
